Rostech United Engines is reported to have introduced unique technology for the production of aircraft engine blades. The development of innovation has made it possible to produce the most accurately shaped parts, including large parts, while also reducing labor costs and eliminating human labor from the production process.
The UEC Saturn plant in Ribbinsk produces engine blades using a device for twisting high-precision titanium blades and a technology for mixed-stamping two-phase titanium blades.
In terms of design and production, the blades of gas turbine engines are among the most complex and scientifically intensive engine parts. The product is required to have the most accurate shape, be able to withstand high loads and temperatures, and be produced using rare metals and unique alloys as well as composites to ensure low weight and high strength of the workpiece. Only six countries in the world have the capacity to design and produce engine blades. Possessing these skills indicates that the country's mechanical engineering industry is highly developed.
"Both of these inventions are related to the production of blade stampings. The torsion device is built into the process and now only Russian-made equipment is used to produce blades for advanced aircraft engines, expanding the range and capacity to produce large blades. In turn, hybrid stamping is based on additive manufacturing technology and isothermal stamping technology to meet required standards in terms of production economy and mechanical specifications. The inventions were presented at the Archimedes 2022 International Salon, where they won gold and silver awards.
