Recent patent applications indicate that Apple is considering the use of thin oxide coatings on metal surfaces, which can significantly reduce fingerprints on mobile phones. The company also outlined various sandblasting, etching, and chemical processes that can make the titanium casing have a high gloss, which makes the appearance more attractive. This is undoubtedly a big improvement.
